The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society has a new ship for this years Antarctic whale defense campaign. The Leviathan is a 54 metre, ice class, long range ex-patrol vessel that has the capacity to catch the whaling fleet. The $2.6 million ship is currently being refitted and made campaign ready. She will be arriving in Australia mid-November for a 1st of December departure.
The intention is to seek out and stop the Japanese whaling.
Sea Shepherd is presently recruiting volunteer crew for the Antarctic.
If you care about life on Earth and want to work on the sharp-end, directly opposing the industrial destruction of living ecosystems, please apply. Crewing with Sea Shepherd will give you experience with the active and enthusiastic people who are part of one of the World’s most experienced direct-action organisations.
Being part of Sea Shepherd is a chance to oppose the destruction of the Earth and to give something back. If you've ever wanted to get out there and defend the environment, to make a difference, now's your chance!
Sea Shepherd will consider applications from anyone but you must be at least 18 – please download the crew info from the link below. Be aware of the campaign environment: Sea Shepherd is hunting Japanese whalers, so the Leviathan will be in Antarctic waters to the limit of capability and will make any port that is suitable (which may not be in Australia), and the campaign could become dangerous.
