Following on from the successful student protests against the mill,
we're holding a forum as a way for young people around Tasmania to
meet up and discuss actions to stop the Tamar Valley pulp mill. The
forum will have speakers from the Greens, Tasmanians Against the Pulp
Mill, and Resistance, to talk about how environmental campaigns have
been won in Tasmania in the past, and the role young people can play
to stop the pulp mill from going ahead.
There will also be workshops on activist skills, such as how to build
a Student Against the Pulp Mill group at school, creating a zine, and
a political songwriting workshop. Another workshop will begin planning
a protest for the April 1 national day of action on climate change,
dubbed Fossil Fools day, demanding the government halts Australia's
dependence on fossil fuels, and reverse the approval of the pulp mill.
Everyone's welcome and bring your ideas.
Lunch will be provided by Food not Bombs.
Carpooling available from Hobart, call Gabby 0400 917 753 or Mel 0423
