Students for Sovereignty kit /NT intervention

People in the Australian Student Environment Network Indigenous Solidarity Working Group have been working on a Students for Sovereignty Kit, looking particularly at the NT Intervention. It's available for download here: http://www.studentsofsustainability.org/system/files/Students+for+Sovereignty+s.pdf

It includes information about the Northern Territory Intervention, ideas for action and activity, lots of writing and quotes from Traditional Owners in 'prescribed' communities in the NT, as well as writings from Traditional Owners on the lands we live and are active (including a great piece on Sovereignty by Aunty Peta of Kattung Nation - where SoS is going to be held in July!)

We hope this pack will begin dialogue and support young people, high school students, queer and feminist student activists, and environmental justice student activists to get informed, active and involved in solidarity struggles for justice.

We're hoping Students for Sovereignty will grow into an organising network for young people and students. We hope to contribute to campaigning and the struggle for sovereignty, land justice, a nuclear-free future and rolling back the Northern Territory Intervention, in schools, on campuses, and in the community!

What next? We're gonna meet at the Students of Sustainability Conference, 5 - 9th July 2008, at the University of Newcastle. Join us for a dialogue, learning and action for a just and sustainable future.
Please get in contact if you would like a printed resource pack, have ideas, contacts, want to get involved, or would like someone to come and speak to your group or school.
